A brief overview of studying the text Sadhana Panchakam and Bhaja Govindam

Bhaja Govindam composed by Adi Shankaracharya contains practical teachings to examine our purpose of life, thoughts, desires and to overcome our weaknesses and fallacies. It encourages us to question our existence, look at our obstacles, problems and the cause of suffering. It gives us a definite guideline to refrain and withdraw from that which obstructs our way.

Sadhana Panchakam is composed by Adi Sankaracharya who wrote commentaries, texts and hymns expounding on the teachings of Vedanta. In Sadhana – means/practice, Panchakam – set of 5 verses, he provides 40 steps as a means/practice to achieve the end goal Moksha. revealing the entire teaching of Vedanta. Each verse having 4 lines and 2 steps in each line making it altogether 40 steps. Vedas teach us how to conduct ourselves in daily life and make right choices.
